Comments : My desire to run for the board stems from the belief that sewering the Keys is critical for the health and safety of our people, our water and land environments, and our economy. We need to complete the project as promptly, efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. As a public health policy activist protecting people, and communities, I believe the strengths I will bring to the board include: -Doing my homework -People, planning and development skills -Innovative problem-solving -Finding outside funding sources Education : -Smith College, Northampton MA BA 1959 -Northern Nevada Community College, AS Nursing 1983 -University of Virginia: BS Nursing 1984, PhD 1989 - University of Virginia: Darden Graduate Business School Executive Program 1992 Experience : Owner/Manager: Ford Therapeutic Services LLC 2001 -- present: Health Services Consulting. Owner/Manager: Ford Associates: Health policy planning and organizational development, UVA School of Nursing; Commission on Health Care, Secretary of Health/Human Resources 1989-92. Clinical Instructor: UVA and Radford Universities 1985-90; Focus Group Leader,VA DOT 1989. Purchasing, Aircraft Parts Manager (Hughes Aviation Services), Exec. Assistant (Hughes Mining) 1972-75. Additional activities have included elected offices of School Board and Auditor Town of Halifax, VT 1960s, and numerous volunteer positions including Hospice planning and development 1992-98, United Way Board of Directors 1984-86, Kiwanis Children Priority One Director 1996-7, and Gubernatorial appointment Virginia Health Care Foundation 1992-97.
