Comments :

A life long resident of Key West, Lydia Estenoz is a product of the Monroe County public school system. She now wants to give back to that system and help to make it better by bringing a stronger focus on student achievement.
"I want to make a positive difference in the community I love. By Bridging the gaps in education from reading scores and teacher retention to board relations and over spending, I will work to improve the entire system until we are the best in the nation," said Estenoz. Lydia is a consensus builder and experienced leader who brings a K-20 perspective on education and represents the diverse needs of Monroe County.

Education :

Graduate of Key West High School- Honors (First in her family)
Florida Keys Community College- Associate in Arts Degree
University of Florida- Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communication. (First in her family)
Leadership Monroe County, Class XII Graduate
Key West Ambassador, Graduate

Experience :

Director of Media & Community Relations at Florida Keys Community College for 10 years.

Lydia currently serves on the boards of the Key West Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Monroe County, the Cuban-American Heritage Foundation and she also serves on the Chamber's Education and Public Relations committees.

Other civic activity includes the Key West Ambassadors Alumni Association, the Monroe County School Vocational Apprenticeship Advisory Committee and the Southernmost Republican Club.

On a state-level, Lydia has held the position of Vice President of the Institutional Advancement Commission of Florida's Association of Community Colleges and is a member of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

Lydia is married to Tony Estenoz and together they have two children: Tony (10) and Alana (6). She is a member of Revelation House and Church of Christ.
